FAQ

Eligibility, age & CBT

Everything you need to qualify to rent an Otto delivery bike in London.

Do I need a CBT to rent an Otto moped?
Yes — to ride an electric moped you need a UK provisional or full driving licence plus a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) certificate. A CBT is a one-day course valid for two years. Our e-bikes (ETT Trayser 2.0 and Cycl Carr-E) need no licence and no CBT.
How old do I have to be?
You must be at least 17 to ride an L3e electric moped with a CBT. For the no-licence e-bikes the legal minimum is 14, but delivery platforms generally require riders to be 18 or over — check your platform’s own rules.
What documents do I need?
A valid UK provisional/full driving licence and CBT certificate for mopeds, a form of ID (passport or ID card), and proof you’re registered with a delivery platform if renting for delivery. We confirm everything by email or WhatsApp before you collect.
Is there a credit check?
No. Short Rental and Rent-to-Buy have no credit check and no upfront cash deposit.
Can I rent for personal use, not delivery?
Our insurance is structured around hire-and-reward delivery. For purely personal use, short rental or pre-owned purchase is usually the better fit — get in touch and we’ll find the right plan.
